Link tracking: UTM tags on every keyword link, added when it sends

Link tracking adds UTM tags to the links your keyword automations send, at the moment they send. Your analytics tool then shows exactly which platform, which format, and which keyword produced every click. It lives in Settings, then Link tracking, and it is off until you turn it on.

What it does

You save one clean link on a keyword. When someone comments that keyword and the reply goes out, BetterReply builds the tracking tags from what is true about that exact send. A comment on a YouTube Short delivers your link as ?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=shorts, the same keyword on an Instagram Reel delivers ?utm_source=instagram&utm_medium=reel. The link you saved never changes. Only the copy that goes out carries the tags.

Turn it on

1. 1Open Settings, then Link tracking.
2. 2Flip the top switch on.
3. 3Under What gets added, choose which tags go out. Each of the five UTM parameters has its own switch. utm_source (platform) and utm_medium (content format) start on; campaign, content, and term are there when you want them.
4. 4Check the example at the bottom of that card. It shows the exact link a send would deliver and updates as you change things.
5. 5Hit Save changes.

Use your own names

Every value BetterReply emits is editable, so your reports keep whatever convention they already use. Pick a value type for each tag, then rename the outputs:

• Platform name emits youtube, instagram, facebook, linkedin, or threads. Hit Edit names to change any of them, for example youtube to yt.
• Content format emits shorts, longform, reel, post, or video, read from the post the comment sat under. Rename these too.
• Keyword emits the keyword that fired, lowercased.
• Post ID emits the id of the post the comment came from, so you can trace clicks to a single piece of content.
• Custom value is free text you type once, for teams that standardize on something like organic-social or paid_social as their medium.

Choose where it runs

Under Where it runs, toggle whole platforms on or off, or switch off a single connected account while the rest of its platform stays on. A newly connected account follows its platform's setting automatically. Public platforms are worth a thought here: on YouTube and Threads the keyword reply is a public comment, so if you prefer a completely bare link there, turn just those platforms off.

When a link goes out without tags

• Link tracking is off, or that platform or account is switched off.
• A tag set to a dynamic value that this send could not determine is left off rather than guessed. A Threads post has no content format, so a format tag is simply omitted there while the platform tag still applies.
• Manual replies you write in the inbox are never tagged. Link tracking covers keyword automation sends only.
• TikTok is posting only on BetterReply, so no keyword links exist there to tag.

One accuracy note: content format is read from the post's own link, and platforms occasionally report a Short with a long-form style address. Platform tags are exact; treat format splits as directional.
