How do I get BetterReply notifications on my phone?

BetterReply can ping your phone the moment a new comment, DM, or email lands in your inbox. There is no app to download. You add betterreply.com to your home screen, flip one switch in Settings, and your phone treats it like any other app. Setup takes about a minute on iPhone or Android.
On iPhone
iPhones only deliver notifications to web apps that live on your home screen, so that is step one. You need iOS 16.4 or newer, which covers every iPhone updated since early 2023. Safari, Chrome, and Edge can all do the install below.
- 1Open betterreply.com/home in your browser and sign in.
- 2Tap the Share button (the square with the arrow), then tap Add to Home Screen, then Add. BetterReply now sits on your home screen with the pink logo.
- 3Open BetterReply from your home screen, not from a browser tab. This matters: the browser tab and the installed app are separate, and only the installed one can receive notifications. The installed app always opens straight to your dashboard.
- 4Go to Settings, then Notifications, and tap Turn on. When your iPhone asks to allow notifications, tap Allow.
- 5Tap Send a test. If your phone buzzes, you are done.
On Android
Android is simpler because the browser can receive notifications directly. Chrome, Edge, Samsung Internet, and Firefox all work. Open betterreply.com/home, sign in, go to Settings, then Notifications, tap Turn on, and allow notifications when your browser asks.
If you want BetterReply on your home screen like a regular app, tap the browser menu and choose Add to Home screen. Notifications work either way.
The daily email recap
The same Settings page has a second switch: a daily email recap. Turn it on and you get one email a day listing what your inbox picked up, with a link straight to it. Days with nothing new send no email. Both switches start off, so BetterReply stays quiet until you ask it not to be.
If it is not working
- 1No Turn on button on iPhone? You are in a browser tab. Open the copy of BetterReply on your home screen instead, and install it first if you have not (steps above).
- 2The switch says notifications are blocked? You dismissed or denied the permission ask at some point. On iPhone, go to phone Settings, Notifications, BetterReply, and allow them. In Chrome, tap the lock icon next to the address and reset Notifications.
- 3Still quiet? Turn push off and back on in Settings, then send a test. That rebuilds the connection between your device and BetterReply.

Do I need to download an app from the App Store or Play Store?+
No. BetterReply installs straight from the browser: Add to Home Screen on iPhone (Safari, Chrome, or Edge), or just allow notifications in your browser on Android. It then behaves like a regular app, including notifications.
Why is there no notification option on my iPhone?+
iPhones only deliver web notifications to apps installed on the home screen, and only on iOS 16.4 or newer. If you are browsing in a regular tab, install BetterReply first: open betterreply.com/home, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen, then open it from there. Safari, Chrome, and Edge all support this.
Will notifications show my messages?+
Yes. A notification shows the platform, which of your accounts got the message, who sent it, and the first line, then opens your inbox when you tap it. The preview is encrypted end to end under the Web Push standard, so the relay servers between BetterReply and your phone cannot read it. Your phone's notification settings can hide previews from the lock screen if you prefer.
How often will my phone buzz?+
At most once every 10 minutes per device, no matter how busy your inbox gets. A burst of new comments shows up as one notification, and everything is off until you turn it on in Settings.
